I know, I know…

July 3rd, 2009

Recently, I have been wondering, “what’s up with Fiona?” It’s been almost 4 years since Extraordinary Machine and that has been too long. Are you reading this Fiona? Do you some help? I can get you motivated. Rub your feet? Feed you grapes. Sorry…

Anyway, she has been active but not nearly enough. We want a new album baby!

In the meantime check these somewhat recent gems out and an oldie from the Pleasantville soundtrack.

July is thrift month

scrooge mcduck

All my bills are paid, I have a mostly full bar and there’s food in the pantry. I plan to make July a saving month. Maybe if I can save enough, I’ll buy a truck or a laptop. We’ll see which wins out first.

Last night was week 3 of True Blood night at my house. It has been a good start to the season and the show remains strong. The food, drink and company were top notch. Thanks guys.

Good day 2 be a Transformer

June 24th, 2009

oakland
Another wonderful summer day in sunny California’s Bay Area. The wind is lightly spreading cool air off of San Francisco Bay into my bedroom window. Warm, spiced coffee on my desk wakes me and black eyed peas are soaking downstairs for a future meal. It’s days like these you are reminded how great life can be.

This morning I got up and sat down to check out what was new on Winnie Cooper. Lo and behold! I saw this entry for a show in Canada and a video interview with a super cute hipster girl from Vancouver, Piper Davis. In the video she does this silly awkward almost a cappella song while a friend shakes a cabasa. I wasn’t sure at first but it turns out she’s really good and her recordings are very funk/blues inspired. She could be a new sensation sweeping the nation… of Canada. Maybe the U.S. next?

That’s all for today but do yourself a favor and browse past Winnecooper.net entries. The DJ’s are very eclectic and know good music. Also go ahead and spend a couple hours listening to all the Piper you can find on the net like I just did. So worth it.

And Piper (if you read this) when you do end up on tour, come to the Bay.

Events of the Week

June 12th, 2009

So this has been/is a busy week for me.

I just got back from visiting my family in the Seattle area. It was my sister’s High School graduation from Fife High and her 18th birthday on the same day. Fife High is the home of the Cabbage Patch Olympics and award winning school spirit. I have a feeling my sister wasn’t one the deciding factors in that honor. Anyhow, it was very nice to spend some time with my family seeing as how it’s been 5 years since I’ve been back to Seattle. I think I may have convinced my sister to move out of mom’s and come live in oakland with me.

Right now I am waiting for my ride to the wedding up north. He is running very late but I have no choice in the matter so I am writing an entry.

Two of my best friends are getting married tomorrow and I am one of the groomsmen. I have no idea what I am supposed to do as a groomsmen so I hope I do okay. They are both wonderful people and I wish them the best. I only wish that they weren’t picking up and leaving town in conjunction with getting married. Oh well, they’re only going to Oregon and I suppose that’s not too far away. But I sure can’t call them up to get a beer at the bar on a random monday.

Yeah, I will miss them. It’s starting to sink in. Gotta go, my ride is here.

New Video Game trailers from E3

June 3rd, 2009

E3 2009 is this week and all the game developers are releasing new content for games this summer. Here are a few that you may enjoy:

The Beatles (well, Ringo and Paul) finally decided to cash in on video games with a upcoming RockBand edition. The trailer is beautiful, check it out for sure.

This second one looks great but it shows no gameplay and no release date as of yet. It will be a MMORPG and hence, I won’t play it.

And last, the one that I am totally juiced for, Left 4 Dead 2. This should be incredible if it is even half as good as the first.

Some links I found while not worrying about swine flu

April 29th, 2009

Have you heard of bit.ly.com or tinyurl.com ? Well thanks to the Reddit community we now have Dickensurl.com. It turns your URL into a line from a Charles Dickens novel. Brilliant!

Scientist and conservation groups are calling for a fishing ban for the next 20 years in some areas. It’s really a good idea *cough* Japan.

Also a cool video of an octopus. They are so cute. Let them live.

I can’t read all the article that this pages links to but it looks like Mexico is legalizing drugs for personal use. here

And this! This is one of those DUH, why did I not think of that? A pizza box that isn’t just a complete waste of space.

Lastly, a video remix for SLAP CHOP!
